Art and nature have always been inexorably entwined in my life. From the moment I was old enough to pick up a pencil, I've been drawing animals: birds, tigers, horses, going through all sorts of phases. The one thing that has always stayed the same, however, is a somewhat obsessive attention to detail.
When I finished my Ph.D. in ecology a little over 10 years ago, I had no idea the strange, winding path I would end up on that would result in my combining my scientific training with the art I'd been creating all of my life. I now meld the two, creating interpretive panels, diagrams, and other illustrations that help explain complex concepts and inspire awe in the natural world.
